Marie-Paule Adjé, who had until now refrained from commenting on the controversy involving her and the Ivorian comedian Observer Ebène, has finally spoken out. She expressed her reaction through a comment posted on her personal Facebook page.

Ivorian comedian Observer d’Ebène, born Florent Kouakou Amany, has been incarcerated since Monday, April 15, 2024, at the Abidjan Penitentiary Center (PPA), formerly known as the Abidjan Detention and Correctional Center (MACA). He is accused of defamation, damage to image, through an information system against columnist and businesswoman, Marie-Paule Adjé.

Subsequently, his lawyer even complained about the conditions under which he is detained, which sparked a wave of calls for an apology to the columnist from netizens. About a week later, Marie-Paule Adjé reacted.

Held responsible for the arrest of Observer Ebène, she reproached internet users for attempting to guilt her. “How can you come onto someone’s page who is the VICTIM, with the intent of making them feel guilty for defending themselves against someone who has defamed them three times, jeopardizing: Their relationship, career, reputation, hard-built work and contracts that sustain it, their staff, and their family… Have you ever seen me in negative buzz? No! In difficult times, I need God. With all due respect!,” stated Marie-Paule Adjé.
