Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has revealed why he referred to actress Yvonne Nelson as a prostitute in one of his songs.
Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson recently revealed that she underwent a forced abortion when she was pregnant with Sarkodie’s child. In response, Sarkodie released a song on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 1:40 am titled “Try me.” The single addresses the abortion incident that dates back to 2010, in which Sarkodie is accused of abandoning Yvonne Nelson at the hospital.
According to him, he was not proud of the act but felt the need to respond to provide his side of the story. “I sneaked into the studio to record it because I didn’t want to hear advice from anyone. So no one was there to tell me whether it was good or not,” he confessed.
The rapper regrets having called Yvonne Nelson a prostitute but maintains that the desire to tell his side of the truth outweighed his emotions and intentions. “The reason why I didn’t create a media frenzy or pressure around this is because I could lose my temper in responding to these accusations,” he explained.
Sarkodie insists that at the time, he was not ready to be a father but still advised Yvonne to keep the pregnancy. “That’s why I don’t like talking about it. It’s a conversation between two people. We could have a conversation if you want to talk about it because it concerns me too. But because people know Sark doesn’t talk, they think they can say something and know that Sark won’t talk, and they will get away with it,” the artist denounced.
