Ivorian comedian and host Yvidéro has attacked TikTok influencer Jada Dia in response to her apology message to former First Lady Henriette Bédié.
Last week, a joke by TikTok star Jada Dia took a sour turn following the death of former President Henri Konan Bédié. “My condolences, Mom. Please, when Mom Bédié finishes mourning, we’ll give her a whitening range with a 4-in-1 soap,” wrote the influencer and second runner-up of the Miss Côte d’Ivoire 2020 pageant.
Quickly, her comment was deemed inappropriate by viewers and internet users towards the widow Bédié. Subsequently, Life TV promptly removed the TikTok star from the holiday show “TikTokcoeur.”
Jada Apologizes Caught between conflicting sentiments, Jada Dia publicly apologized to the widow of Henri Konan Bédié on her Instagram story. “Dear authorities, Ivorian brothers and sisters, dear press friends, I want to address all of you today with humility and sincerity. I recently made a very regrettable comment on a photo of Mom Henriette Bédié, the wife of the late Henri Konan Bédié, former head of state of our beloved country…” stated Jada Dia.
The TikTok influencer maintained that her intention wasn’t to disrespect the former first lady but acknowledged that the timing for her joke was inappropriate.
“I assure you that my intentions were pure and not meant to disrespect this illustrious personality of our country. So, I commit to learning from this experience and raising awareness among my peers about the importance of kindness and respect online. Thank you for listening to me, and I promise to do my best to become a better person,” she added.
Yvidéro Chimes In While her apologies were well-received by internet users, Yvidéro also got involved and addressed the TikTok influencer.
“Those who say she apologized, you are sick actually. To apologize and then add ‘I was having fun,’ you like to exaggerate. Is Mrs. Bédié your friend?” she commented. A reaction that might trigger a response from Jada Dia.
