Mexican-Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o paid a touching tribute to her friend and colleague Chadwick Boseman on the occasion of the third anniversary of the passing of the Black Panther hero.

“Three years ago today, I felt a singular pain at the announcement of @chadwickboseman’s passing. The confusion was so deep that it took me months to trust the feeling of joy again. This is a picture I took, filmed at the airport upon our arrival in South Korea in 2018. We had just learned to do the baby heart with our fingers. Here, Chadwick added his smooth touch. We spent glorious 72 hours there, and the memory fills me with so much joy,” wrote the young lady in the caption of a black and white photo of the actor smiling at an airport in Korea, taken in 2018.

Known as Nakia in Black Panther, she comforted those grieving with kind words, reminding everyone that he would always be remembered with fondness. “Death is hard to understand, perhaps even harder to accept. But the love generated by the life he lived will fuel every anniversary marking his absence. Chadwick may no longer be in our photos, but he will always be in our hearts.”

Chadwick Boseman passed away in 2020 after a four-year battle with colon cancer, making Monday, August 28, 2023, the third anniversary of his death. He was best known for portraying T’Challa in the Black Panther film and the Marvel film series, but he also appeared in other impactful movies like Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
