Professional wrestler and former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) champion, Windham Rotunda, better known as Bray Wyatt, has passed away on Thursday due to complications related to Covid. He was 36 years old.
The news of his death was announced by WWE. “Our thoughts go out to his family, and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time,” said Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE’s Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development, on X (formerly Twitter). Additionally, actor and former wrestler known as “The Rock” posted, “My heart is broken by the news of Bray Wyatt’s passing. Always had a great time working with him and was always able to feel the passion he put into his craft.”
The news quickly circulated on social media, eliciting numerous reactions and tributes. “I’m having a hard time accepting this. Denial is strong. Just shocked, and I can’t believe it really,” tweeted WWE superstar Sami Zayn.
Actor Dwayne Johnson expressed a broken heart, saying, “I’ve always had immense respect and adoration for him and the Rotunda family. Loved his presence, his promos, his in-ring work, and his connection with the WWE universe. A unique, cool and rare talent.”
In 2017, Bray Wyatt, the son of WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Mike Rotunda, won the prestigious WWE championship title. Throughout his career, he embraced various wrestling personas, showcasing his versatility.
He was a prominent member of the Wyatt Family, a group with a distinctive presence. Additionally, he adopted a nightmarish masked character known as The Fiend, adding an element of intrigue and fear to his persona.
