Argentina, the reigning world champion, will begin its qualification campaign for the 2026 World Cup during the September international break. The Albiceleste will play two matches against Ecuador (September 8th) and Bolivia (September 12th). For this occasion, the national team coach, Lionel Scaloni, unveiled his list of 32 players on Thursday.
The national team coach will have to do without the services of Paulo Dybala, who is nursing a muscular injury. In order to replace him in the squad, the 45-year-old coach has chosen to call up Bruno Zapelli for the first time. Zapelli, a 21-year-old offensive midfielder from Club Athletico Paranaense, has already had the opportunity to play with Italy’s U21 team.
Furthermore, the iconic figures of the team such as Lionel Messi, Lautaro Martinez, and Emiliano Martinez will be present for this Argentina gathering. As a reminder, the 2026 World Cup will be co-hosted by three countries for the first time in history, namely Canada, the USA, and Mexico.
