Steve Mounié, like his teammates, has also commented on the match against Mozambique this Saturday in the 2023 CAN qualifiers. The Brest striker invited the Beninese sports fans to support their ambassadors in this decisive clash.
“We are optimistic, all the players are here, ready for the battle. We will give it our all for the nation on Saturday. The important thing is that we qualify; we started from afar in this campaign, and now we have the opportunity to go to Côte d’Ivoire,” said Steve Mounié in remarks collected by Ange MANDJE.
He added, “I know that my teammates and I will give it our all. I hope that the supporters will continue to support us as they did against Senegal. We need everyone’s strength to achieve this qualification.”
Victory is necessary for qualification. Held to a draw by Senegal (1-1) in the previous round, the Guépards must secure a victory against the Mambas to book their ticket to Ivory Coast.
Mozambique, currently second in the standings after their logical victory against Rwanda (2-0) last June, only need a draw to make it to this African event. Just a reminder, the match is scheduled for September 9, 2023, at the Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto in Maputo at 3:00 PM GMT.
