Ghanaian singer Mzbel has praised former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan for his friendly and admirable personality.
Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, her birth name, revealed that she maintains a cordial relationship with the Ghanaian legend, adding that she often shares fun moments with the former footballer over the phone.
Mzbel also noted that she lived in the same neighborhood as Gyan’s family and that the two have had a brotherly relationship for a long time now. “We are very close as friends. We used to talk for long hours on the phone and joke around… something like that. And we were neighbors. Asamoah Gyan’s mother and I were neighbors. I found out that’s where they live after living in that neighborhood. We were already friends, and I didn’t even know his parents lived there,” she said on Angel FM.
Mzbel also highlighted Gyan’s personality outside of football while clarifying their relationship. “He was very interesting. As a footballer, I don’t know much about football. I only know he missed a penalty, that’s all I know. I’m not into football. But what I know about him is that he likes to do comedy. When he calls, he cracks jokes everywhere. He’s very interesting. It’s fun being with him and hanging out, but for football (I don’t know). Asa is my brother,” she added.
Asamoah Gyan, also known for his passion for music, attended and played at the funeral of Mzbel’s father, which took place in Gbawe on March 5, 2022.
