Libianca, the rising star of Cameroonian music, has put her North American tour on hold due to threats from separatist groups from the Anglophone regions. These intimidations come after an incident where the singer displayed the Cameroonian flag during a performance, which has led to unexpected repercussions.
Cameroonian-American star Libianca, living in the United States, announced some unfortunate news to her fans this Friday, April 12, 2024. The singer has postponed her North American tour dates due to security concerns. According to Libianca, she has received threats from the separatists of the Anglophone regions of Cameroon. “Hey Besties. I am writing this with a heavy heart to tell you that my North American tour will be postponed because I have received explicit threats during my Australian tour from a Cameroonian separatist group, ‘The Amba Boys,’ because my team is asking for it. I was waving the Cameroonian flag on stage which could be seen on social media, which, I guess, meant that I stand by our current president. My country has been experiencing a civil war since 2016 that has ravaged my hometown, with countless deaths among my fellow citizens and a separation within the country itself. The fact that I carry the Cameroonian flag was not to say which side I am on, but to symbolize the faith that one day, we, The People, will reunite and lead with love because we are better together when we help each other instead of hating one another,” the singer wrote.
She continued by reassuring her fans: “The new North American tour dates will be posted once they are determined,” while expressing her gratitude to all who hold her dear. She also clarifies in a post on her Facebook page: “I refuse to cancel just need time to take the necessary precautions love you!“
