A dinner with the Messi and Beckham families turned into a brawl as they celebrated the Inter Miami’s qualification for the Leagues Cup semi-finals this weekend. A moment of relaxation took an unexpected turn when a customer clashed with the security staff for attempting to take a photo of the Argentinean star.
Lionel Messi has already been involved in two incidents since joining Inter Miami in the MLS this summer. While the Argentinean star unintentionally triggered the firing of an employee recently, who was dismissed for asking for an autograph from the captain of the Albiceleste, this time the name of the 2022 World Cup champion is linked to a brawl.
Having scored last Saturday during his team’s qualification for the Leagues Cup semi-finals by defeating Charlotte FC (4-0), the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner and his partner Antonella, along with Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, enjoyed an evening dinner with Victoria and David Beckham.
They relaxed at a trendy Japanese-inspired restaurant, Gekko, owned by rapper Bad Bunny, located in Downtown Miami. As shown in images posted on social media, the group had a good time, at least until a brawl put an end to the enjoyment. An altercation erupted between a restaurant customer and a security staff member.
According to Daily Mail, the man claimed he was shoved when he tried to take a photo of his wife and was even struck in the face as he was being escorted out of the restaurant. “We were just trying to take a picture here, then they jumped us, kicked me out, and hit me in the face. Just because one of us was trying to take a picture with his wife, not with Beckham or Messi, nothing like that. It was a family thing,” he explained.
This situation led the security staff to escort David Beckham, Lionel and Antonella Messi out through a back exit of the restaurant for a peaceful departure. Quite an unexpected ending to the evening!
