At the helm of Team USA since October 2019, Vlatko Andonovski has resigned from his position as head coach of the United States women’s national football team, following the team’s elimination in the Round of 16 of the World Cup against Sweden, sources close to the matter told AFP.

Vlatko Andonovski is no longer the head coach of the United States women’s national football team. The American coach has resigned from his position following the Team USA’s elimination from the 2023 World Cup in Oceania, where they were defeated by Sweden in the Round of 16.

Besieged by criticism after this premature exit of the team, despite being the reigning champions and favorites for their own succession, the 46-year-old coach decided to part ways, in mutual agreement with his employers, sources close to the matter informed AFP. According to The Athletic, the interim role will be taken over by the current assistant coach, Twila Kilgore.
