Russian Defense Minister stated on Tuesday that the resources of the Ukrainian army are “almost depleted,” as Kyiv has been conducting an exhausting counter-offensive since June to reclaim territories occupied by Moscow.
Speaking at the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu assessed the state of Ukraine’s military resources. “Preliminary results of the operations indicate that the military resources of Ukraine are almost exhausted,” he said.
The minister suggested that under the pretext of supporting Kyiv, the United States was depleting the military arsenals of its partners in various regions of the world, promising them favorable deliveries of Western weapons in return. “In fact, this is clearing the market for products of the American military-industrial complex. However, partners will have to pay a high price to the United States for new weapons and accept that their security sovereignty is limited,” Shoigu explained.
According to him, Soviet-made equipment often does not yield to Western weapons of the same kind. “Regarding Western-made weapons delivered to Ukraine, I want to repeat that there is currently nothing unique or invulnerable to Russian weapons on the battlefield. In many cases, Soviet-made equipment is superior in terms of combat capabilities to Western counterparts.”
