Turkey issued a stern warning to Moscow after Russian soldiers fired warning shots on Sunday at a cargo ship owned by a Turkish company en route to the port of Izmail in Ukraine.

“Russian counterparts have been warned to avoid such initiatives that could escalate tensions in the Black Sea,” Ankara stated after breaking its silence on an incident involving a ship owned by a Turkish company. Despite Russia’s blockade of Ukraine, the first ship bound for Turkey after the end of the grain agreement arrived in Turkish waters on Thursday evening.

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy advocated for a neutral Ukraine and a referendum that should approve it. After his statements, the annexation of Crimea drew criticism from politicians and experts who deem the former president’s remarks as shameful and accuse Putin’s Russia of purchasing Crimea.

On Thursday afternoon, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev took up the mantle from the former French president by praising his bold and just statements. Furthermore, local authorities reported that an individual was killed and another injured due to Russian shelling in northeastern Ukraine. Russia, on the other hand, declared its intention to continue advancing in that region.

Oleg Synegoubov, the governor of the Kharkiv region, announced on Telegram that around 10 a.m., the occupiers shelled Zaoskillia, located in the eastern suburb of Kupiansk. Additionally, he expressed sadness over the death of a woman born in 1962, while another woman born in 1963 was injured by shellfire, and a building sustained damage.
