The draw for the groups of the 2023-2024 UEFA Champions League took place on Thursday evening in Monaco. Discover the composition of the different pools and the anticipated clashes.

Just over two and a half months since the last final where Manchester City triumphed against Inter Milan (1-0), the Champions League is back. The group stage draw for the competition took place on Thursday in Monaco. The reigning champions, Manchester City, got a relatively favorable draw, with a group that seems within their reach. Placed in Group G, Pep Guardiola’s men will face Leipzig, Red Star Belgrade, and Young Boys from Bern.

While the groups overall appear to be fairly balanced, Group A will see a major showdown between Bayern Munich and Manchester United. The battle between these two teams for the top spot will surely be fierce. Copenhagen and Galatasaray are the other members of this Group A.

Group F is often referred to as the “group of death,” featuring PSG, AC Milan, Dortmund, and Newcastle. While Paris Saint-Germain are the favorites for the top spot, they will need to be cautious of their opponents, each of whom has the capability to advance to the next round.

Last season’s semi-finalist, Real Madrid, finds themselves in a relatively easy group. The Merengues are accompanied by Napoli, Braga, and Union Berlin, a newcomer to the competition. As a reminder, the group stage matches for this edition of the Champions League will take place from September 19th to December 13th, 2023.
