Brice Samba, a talented goalkeeper, made a remarkable return to Ligue 1 when he joined Racing Club de Lens last summer for five million euros from Nottingham Forest. Since then, he has proven to be an invaluable asset to his team, gaining the trust of his teammates, coach, and supporters.
His exceptional performance earned him a well-deserved reward: a contract extension until 2028 with Lens. To announce the news, the Sang et Or (Lens) published a video on social media with a nod to the iconic Star Wars saga.
“After reaching for the stars in May, the ‘Planet Gaillette’ saw many comings and goings this summer. While Yopenda and the iconic Sekowalker left its ranks, the galactic Obi-Wan Kenobrice did not fall to the dark side of the force,” wrote the Artois-based club, delighted to have resisted the “phantom menace” posed by Italian, English, German, and even Saudi clubs.
Brice Samba had an outstanding season with Lens, earning the title of Best Goalkeeper in Ligue 1 at the UNFP Trophy ceremony. He won the award by surpassing Lucas Chevalier (Lille), Gianluigi Donnarumma (PSG), Pau Lopez (OM), and Anthony Lopes (OL). As a reminder, Lens finished second in the French championship last season, and Brice Samba played a significant role in that achievement.
