Arriving last winter on loan as a digital replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo in Manchester United’s attack, Wout Weghorst returned to the club Burnley this summer. However, he didn’t stay there for long, as he has been loaned again to Hoffenheim. The German club announced the news through a statement this Wednesday.
“TSG Hoffenheim brings back a good friend to the Bundesliga. The 31-year-old Dutch international Wout Weghorst has been loaned for a year from the newly promoted English Premier League club FC Burnley and will play for the village club in the new season. His contract in England runs until June 30, 2025,” the statement reads.
After spending the last six months competing with Manchester United, Weghorst will attempt to revive his career in Germany. During his time with the Reds Devils last season, the Dutch striker scored only 2 goals and provided 3 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions. He hopes to perform better in the Bundesliga, living up to the trust shown in him by the leaders of his new club.
“I had a few opportunities and I’ve been thinking a lot about my future in recent weeks. The TSG officials made a huge effort for me and showed me a lot of appreciation. That really impressed me, and I feel good to be here now. So, it’s all the better that all discussions have now ended positively and the transfer to TSG is completed,” says Wout Weghorst, explaining his decision to join TSG. “I would now like to repay the trust that has been placed in me on the field and do my part to make the season as successful as possible,” the striker adds.
