In a letter sent to Kylian Mbappé on August 4th and whose content was revealed by L’Equipe, PSG warned its player about the consequences that would result from his quest to leave the club on a free transfer in 2024. The Parisian management assured that several employees of the team would pay the price for this decision made by the native of Bondy.
A favorite topic among the sports community during this summer transfer window, the Mbappé-PSG saga unveils a new episode every day. For weeks, the two parties have been engaged in a standoff over the extension or sale this summer of the captain of the French national team, who intends to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of his contract in 2024.
To the Bondy-born player who has so far rejected all the offers submitted to him, the reigning French champions responded by excluding the 24-year-old player from the summer tour in Japan and also intend to keep him out of the start of the championship.
But that wasn’t enough for the PSG management, which hinted at the worst-case scenario if the Bondy native decided to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of his contract in June next year. According to information from the newspaper L’Equipe, PSG sent a letter to its star on August 4th, stating that several employees of the club would bear the consequences of his decision.
“We would then be faced with the necessity of selling players, reconsidering the integration policy of young players trained at the club into the first team, and most likely having to initiate a wave of layoffs. This would jeopardize everything that has been built within the club,” the statement said, according to the media in Île-de-France. A pressure tactic that apparently did not sway the former Monaco player, who remains firm in his stance.
