According to information from journalist Ablam Gnamesso, Olympique Lyonnais has launched an offensive move for the Beninese defensive midfielder, Dokou Dodo, who reached the quarter-finals of the U20 CAN with the Guépards.
After Steve Mounié and Tosin Aiyegun, Benin could see a third international player in Ligue 1. Currently with the Egyptian club Smouha, Dokou Dodo has caught the attention of Olympique Lyonnais. The French club is negotiating with the Cairo-based team for a transfer of the defensive midfielder this summer. According to information from journalist Ablam Gnamesso, the Gones have reportedly made an initial offer for the 19-year-old player, who is under contract with the Egyptian club until 2026.
The deal would involve a transfer this year, with payment in two installments. According to the same source, the current 14th-placed team in Ligue 1 (after one matchday) has received an initial response from Smouha. The Egyptian club would prefer a single payment. Negotiations are said to be ongoing between the two parties.
Former player of Eternel in the Ligue Pro, Dokou Dodo joined Smouha last summer. With the team based in Alexandria, he played 29 matches and provided one assist. A Beninese international player, he earned his third cap last June during the fifth matchday of the 2023 CAN qualifiers against Senegal (1-1). Prior to that, he participated in the U20 CAN earlier in the year, reaching the quarter-finals with the Guépards.
