Jonathan Kodjia faces a new challenge. Since his departure from Umm Salal (Qatar), the Ivorian striker has been without a club and has decided to find himself in France.
On Tuesday, August 22nd, FC Annecy announced the signing of the experienced forward, who has played for Aston Villa in the Premier League. The 33-year-old footballer has signed a one-season contract with the French club. Additionally, he has played 63 matches in Ligue 2, including against Stade de Reims, Cherbourg, Amiens, Angers, and Stade Malherbe de Caen. With 108 goals scored in his professional career, this player will contribute to Annecy’s progress.
As a reminder, born to Ivorian parents, Jonathan Kodjia was born in France. While playing for a club in the Paris region at the district level, Stade de Reims noticed him and awarded him his first professional contract in 2008. On May 20, 2016, Jonathan Kodjia was selected for the first time with the Ivory Coast national team in a friendly match against Hungary (0-0). Two weeks later, he scored his first goal for the Elephants during the African Cup of Nations 2017 qualifiers against Gabon (a 2-1 victory).
