In negotiations with Olympique Lyon for a transfer to the club this summer, Dodo Doku will ultimately not be coming to France. The Ligue 1 team has failed to reach an agreement with the Egyptian club Smouha for the arrival of the Beninese prodigy in France.
This is likely a significant disappointment for Olympique Lyon. The club will not be signing the Beninese prodigy Dodo Doku this summer. Attracted by the qualities of the defensive midfielder, the French club initiated negotiations with his club Smouha to quickly come to an agreement. However, the deal will not be completed due to certain clauses related to the contract, particularly regarding the payment terms of the transaction, as reported by Burkinabe journalist Ablam Gnamesso of Sportdrome.
Indeed, the Lyon team had made an official offer of 500,000 euros to Smouha SC to sign the player this summer. Lyon’s offer was to be paid in two installments. On the other hand, the Egyptian club requested the offer to be revised to 600,000 euros.
Regarding the payment date for the financial counterpart of the transfer, Lyon wished to pay the transaction fees 10 days after receiving the International Transfer Certificate (ITC), but Smouha wanted the payment to be made immediately upon receiving the ITC. This deadlock ultimately led to the end of negotiations between the two teams.
Latest reports suggest that Dodo Doku is set to join Belgium, where he would sign with Molenbeek. The Belgian club is reported to have already reached an agreement with Smouha for a direct transfer. This is a situation to be followed closely…
