After FC Sevilla, it’s now Besiktas’ turn to reject Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, who is a free agent after his departure from PSG this summer.
With his contract expiring after his time at PSG this summer, Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos isn’t planning to hang up his boots just yet. However, the 37-year-old player is struggling to find a new team. After being turned down by FC Sevilla, the former Spanish international has also been rebuffed by Besiktas. Despite rumors suggesting a potential agreement between the two parties, the Turkish club broke their silence on Monday evening.
“Talisca and Sergio Ramos, successful footballers who hold a significant place in the global football market due to their qualities, qualities that every club, every president, and every manager would like to see in their teams, have also been on the transfer agenda of our club. As a result, Anderson Talisca and his club, as well as Sergio Ramos, were contacted, and negotiations, which were conducted in the best interest of our club, have been discontinued due to disagreements on financial issues. We respectfully submit this decision for the information of the public and our supporters,” explained Besiktas in a statement.
After the episodes with Sevilla and Club América, a new opportunity fades for the former Real Madrid captain. The days are passing by, and the imminent closure of the summer transfer market surely weighs heavily on the player’s mind. While the Spanish press suggests that Sergio Ramos is leaning towards staying in Europe, it might well be that the MLS represents the best option for the 37-year-old Spanish veteran.
