Morgan Schneiderlin has decided to terminate his contract with the Turkish club Konyaspor, just nine days after committing to the team. The French footballer cited “family reasons” to justify his decision.
Morgan Schneiderlin’s Turkish adventure has been short-lived in the football world. Barely nine days after his arrival at Konyaspor was announced, the French midfielder has already terminated his contract with the Süper Lig club. According to explanations provided by Konyaspor, this decision was driven by “family reasons” cited by the player, and the club complied with his request.
This situation is unexpected for Schneiderlin, who had been without a club since his contract with OGC Nice expired this summer. Nevertheless, he had signed a two-year contract with Konyaspor, providing him an opportunity to return to top-level football and reunite with Paul Bernardoni, another familiar face from the French league, who also signed for the Turkish club for the next two seasons.
The 33-year-old French international, with 15 caps for the national team, the last one dating back to November 2015, finds himself once again free to choose his destination. After a career marked by various stages, having represented clubs like Strasbourg, Southampton, Manchester United, and Everton, he even ventured to Australia in recent months, with a loan spell at Western Sydney for the latter part of the season.
