In order to promote the development of football and tourism, Rwanda has announced a five-year partnership with the German club Bayern Munich.
Following similar alliances already established with Arsenal in England and Paris Saint-Germain in France, Rwanda is taking another step to enhance its visibility through agreements with European football clubs. According to a statement from the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), the government agency responsible for promoting the country, the “Visit Rwanda” logo will now appear on the advertising boards around the Allianz Arena (75,000 seats).
This collaboration with FC Bayern has been signed for five years until 2028. The club, which won its eleventh consecutive national title last season and is a six-time winner of the Champions League, has also committed to establishing a football academy in Rwanda. The goal is to provide young Rwandan talents with the opportunity to develop their skills and promote a love for football.
The amount of the partnership is “contractually confidential,” said Clare Akamanzi, the head of RDB, to AFP. “We are excited to partner with FC Bayern to support the development of football for boys and girls in Rwanda. We look forward to creating the FC Bayern Academy where their expert coaches can share their knowledge of the game with local coaches and players,” praised Rwandan Minister of Sports Aurore Mimosa Munyangaju in the statement.
