The University of Lomé has recently risen to the 131st position among the top 200 universities on the African continent, according to the latest ranking published by the African University Ranking (UniRank). This ranking has been met with satisfaction by the university’s administration.

Professor Komla Dodzi Kokoroko, President of the University of Lomé, expressed his gratitude towards the faculty, administrative and technical staff, as well as the entire student community for their contribution to this achievement. He emphasized that this ranking represents not only an accomplishment for the university but also an opportunity to align with current challenges and global developments.

The UniRank ranking placed the University of Lomé in the third position among French-speaking African universities, highlighting its prominent role in the educational landscape of the region. Professor Kokoroko stated that this recognition strengthens the university’s commitment to providing quality education, conducting relevant research, and actively contributing to the socio-economic development of Togo and beyond.

“The University of Lomé takes note of this ranking conducted on relevant criteria and takes the opportunity to express its gratitude to the President of the Republic and its appreciation to the government for the attention and support it receives to further build itself, become even more visible, and effectively fulfill its mission of teaching, training, and research,” reads the statement signed by the President of the University of Lomé.

Professor Kokoroko also emphasized that this ranking is by no means considered an endpoint but rather a catalyst for the University of Lomé, motivating it to continue its journey of adaptation and growth in an ever-changing world.
