As part of efforts to enhance the quality of education and create a conducive environment for academic activities, the University of Lomé (UL) has recently received a significant donation of computer and teaching equipment from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
This donation, valued at over 27 million CFA francs, was officially handed over to Professor Komla Dodzi Kokoroko, the University’s President, by Binta Sanneh, the UNDP Resident Representative in Togo, this Wednesday.
The donation package consists of 27 computer and teaching equipment items, including video and audio conferencing tools, projectors, desktop and laptop computers, tablets, as well as various graphic-related accessories and multimedia capture equipment. These new assets will play a crucial role in digitizing education at the University of Lomé.
Indeed, these modern devices will facilitate the dissemination of knowledge through the use of innovative technologies, providing students and teachers with new learning and sharing opportunities. The video and audio conferencing equipment will enable students and professors to engage in remote collaborations or exchanges, thus opening doors to a comprehensive and enriching educational experience.
Furthermore, these technological resources will also enhance the management of thesis defenses for doctoral and master’s students at the University of Lomé, streamlining procedures and improving the efficiency of these essential academic processes.
The UNDP’s initiative to support the Master’s program in Public Procurement Engineering and the University Diploma program in Governance aligns with the country’s current needs. This gesture reflects the UNDP’s commitment to assisting states in their development efforts and contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
The University of Lomé welcomes this partnership with the UNDP, which will significantly improve the quality of education and services offered to its students.
