The Togolese Post Company recently warned the public and its customers about a new scam method used by cybercriminals. In a statement released on Thursday, September 21, 2023, the General Directorate urged Togolese citizens to be vigilant to avoid falling into the trap of cyber scammers.

According to the statement, victims receive an email from a fake “Post” account, informing them of an imminent parcel delivery. The email then encourages customers to confirm their address using a link, claiming it’s for precise delivery location purposes. This method allows scammers to gain access to their target’s personal data.

The General Directorate of the Togolese Post Company reminds its customers that the usual notification of parcel arrival is sent via SMS and, under no circumstances, solicits the communication of personal data such as identity, address, or parcel tracking numbers through emails. This scam attempt is categorized as identity theft, and the Post Office urges its customers to remain vigilant against such fraudulent practices.
