During his official visit to Lomé, the Rector of the Francophonie University Agency (AUF), Slim Khalbous, expressed his intention to actively support the policy aimed at improving the employability of higher education graduates in Togo.
Invited to participate in the first-ever Exhibition for Valorizing Research Results and Innovation in West Africa (SaVaRRI-AO), which took place from September 18 to 20 in Lomé, Rector Khalbous took the opportunity to meet with Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé. Following this meeting, the AUF expressed its commitment to supporting the policy aimed at enhancing the employability of higher education graduates in Togo.
“In our quest for progress, it is essential to promote research, not only to nurture vital sectors such as agriculture, medicine, and education but also to foster the overall development of Togo,” explained Rector Khalbous after the fruitful meeting.
The AUF Rector emphasized the importance of graduate employability in the current context, where access to quality employment is essential for economic prosperity and sustainable growth. Strengthening graduates’ skills and preparing them to enter the job market are crucial elements for the socio-economic development of Togo.
The AUF, in collaboration with academic institutions and stakeholders in the education sector in Togo, plans to implement programs aimed at improving the alignment between graduates’ skills and the needs of the labor market. This approach aims to create synergy between higher education and the professional sector, thereby promoting the professional integration of young graduates.
By aligning with this policy, the AUF once again demonstrates its commitment to higher education and research in French-speaking Africa. This initiative also strengthens Togo’s position as a regional leader in higher education.
