Simliwa Pouwedeou was elected beauty queen this weekend at the “Ambassador of Grand Lomé Municipalities” contest.
Launched on May 4, 2023, the initiative, focused on women’s empowerment and local development of the municipalities in Grand Lomé, reached its conclusion this weekend. Named “Ambassador of Grand Lomé Municipalities,” this innovative contest organized by the communication agency “L’Engagement” crowned Simliwa Pouwedeou as the winner.
Out of the thirteen brilliant candidates, each representing their respective municipality, and competing with eloquence and ingenuity to propose innovative development projects related to this year’s theme “Cultivating the Future Together,” the representative of the Agoè-nyivé 4 municipality emerged victorious.
With contagious passion and an inspiring vision, Simliwa Pouwedeou, ambassador of the Agoè-nyivé 4 municipality, stood out to become the first winner of the “Feminine Emergence” contest. Her ability to combine leadership and creativity captured the attention of both the jury and the public, who unanimously crowned her.
In recognition of her efforts, Simliwa received a new service car, but the true reward is her new role as an ambassador, holding considerable influence to shape the future of Grand Lomé. She pledged to work hand in hand with local communities to strengthen community bonds and promote social inclusion.
Two other talented women were also distinguished for their exceptional participation in the contest. Laurence Djafalo, representing the Golfe 6 municipality, and Nora Kwakou, representing Agoè-nyivé 1, were appointed as deputy ambassadors. Their roles as coordinators of the prefectures of Grand Lomé demonstrate the initiative’s commitment to propelling more women into leadership positions.
