In Togo, the registration process for the entrance examination to the scientific high schools of Lomé and Kara was officially launched on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. This information was confirmed by the Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education and Crafts, Komla Dodzi Kokoroko, in a public statement.
The entrance examination for the scientific high schools of Lomé and Kara is open to young Togolese talents, both girls and boys, aged up to 17 years on the day of the examination, who have excelled in the Brevet d’Études du Premier Cycle (BEPC) during the 2023 session, with an outstanding average score of 16/20 or higher.
The scientific high schools of Lomé and Kara, renowned for their stimulating learning environment and commitment to academic excellence, offer a total of 80 spots for the successful candidates. The Lomé scientific high school allocates 40 spots, of which 15 are reserved for young women and 25 for young men. Similarly, the Kara scientific high school provides 40 spots, evenly distributed: 20 for girls and 20 for boys.
The selection of future students will proceed in two distinct phases. The first phase, the preselection, will be based on the candidates’ performance in mathematics, physical sciences, French, and English during their fourth and third years of study, as well as their performance in the BEPC exam. This meticulous phase aims to ensure the selection of the best emerging scientific minds.
The second phase, the written exams, will constitute the ultimate selection phase. Candidates will face two demanding written exams: one in mathematics and the other in physical sciences. These exams will test the candidates’ conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking, reflecting the academic rigor expected in these renowned scientific high schools.
For interested candidates, application documents will be received at the regional education directorates in Lomé, Tsévié, Kpalimé, Atakpamé, Sokodé, Kara, and Dapaong from Monday, August 21, to Wednesday, August 30, 2023, until 5:00 PM.
