In Togo, Dr. Ekoué-Kouvahey Kangni Atanyigan has been appointed as the President of the Medical and Anti-Doping Commission within the National Olympic Committee (NOC).
The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Togo has selected Dr. Ekoué-Kouvahey Kangni Atanyigan to lead the Medical and Anti-Doping Commission. This appointment reflects the NOC’s commitment to improving sports medicine in the country.
With a doctorate in medicine, Ekoué-Kouvahey Kangni Atanyigan is an experienced professional in the medical field. He has previously served as the Chief Medical Officer of the Togolese Olympic delegation during the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Konya, Turkey.
In his initial statements as the commission’s president, Dr. Ekoué-Kouvahey Kangni Atanyigan highlighted the current challenges of sports medicine in Togo. He stated, “Sports medicine in Togo still faces several challenges (…). The hope of achieving the four objectives of sports medicine, which are prevention, treatment, research, and guidance, is real. The development of sports medicine enables better athlete performance, contributes to success, and ensures the daily well-being of athletes.”
Dr. Kangni Ekoué’s appointment comes at a time when sports medicine is playing an increasingly crucial role in athletes’ success and the promotion of sports at the national level.
