In a press release, the General Commissioner of the Togolese Revenue Office informs road transporters that controls on the payment of the Single Professional Tax (TPU) for the second quarter of 2023 will start very soon across the entire national territory.

Starting from August 1st, 2023, controls on the payment of the Single Professional Tax (TPU), commonly referred to as the “quarter,” will be in effect throughout the country. Road transporters must be prepared to provide the necessary documentation to demonstrate compliance with this tax obligation. According to the General Commissioner of the Togolese Revenue Office, Philippe Kokou B. TCHODIE, this verification process aims to ensure transparency and tax fairness for all taxpayers.

As a prelude to this operation, the Togolese Revenue Office (OTR) reminds liable taxpayers to fulfill their tax obligations within the specified deadlines, in accordance with the provisions of Article 57 of the current Book of Tax Procedures. The General Commissioner of the OTR emphasizes in the press release that the TPU plays a crucial role in financing Togo’s infrastructure and public services.

The call made by the head of the Togolese tax administration aims to raise awareness among road transporters about the importance of complying with their tax obligations and thus avoiding any penalties. It should be noted that the payment of the Single Professional Tax is based on a fixed basis established by the tax administration, which calculates it based on the estimated turnover of the transporters.
