A new dynamic is shaking up the Togolese political arena with the emergence of an alliance named “ENSEMBLE…!” This political coalition was officially introduced on Wednesday, August 9th.
Just a few weeks ahead of the regional and legislative elections, a new opposition coalition is born. Comprising three main opposition parties, namely the Pan-African Patriotic Convergence (CPP), the Citizens’ Movement for Democracy and Development (MCD), and the Light for Development in Peace (LDP) movement, this alliance also includes influential voices from civil society. Among them are the Citizens’ Galaxy for Democracy (GCD), the Renaissance for the Development of the People (RDP), NGOs GID-AF/RADIH, the Association for the Health of Populations Without Resources (ASPR), and the Association of Devotees for the Development of the Akoumapé Canton (EDCA).
According to Me Traoré Tchassona, President of the MDC and member of the ENSEMBLE alliance, the new coalition aims to revitalize the country through a major electoral transformation. It seeks to draw inspiration from the historic mobilization of 1994 to initiate an era of democratic progress in Togo.
The diverse components of “ENSEMBLE…!” primarily aspire to catalyze a political renewal while fostering harmony and peace, crucial elements for a smooth and integrated national advancement. The alliance aims to rethink governance in all its aspects, with a focus on the well-being of Togolese citizens.
