The Bè Kpota Community Health Center, located in the Golfe 1 district of downtown Lomé, Togo, has achieved a significant milestone in improving its healthcare services. The facility now has new surgery and radiography units equipped to international standards.

In Togo, the Bè Kpota Community Health Center has acquired new modern medical facilities, allowing for more efficient and effective patient care, thanks to a financing of 612.3 million FCFA from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

This strategic initiative aims primarily to strengthen the technical capabilities of the Bè Kpota Community Health Center, thereby providing quality healthcare to over 500,000 inhabitants of the Golfe 1 district and its surrounding areas. With the installation of two multifunctional operating tables and two anesthesia tables, the surgical capabilities of the facility have been significantly enhanced. These new acquisitions also include five monitoring screens and five radiography boxes, providing improved access to state-of-the-art radiology services.

The impact of this transformation is undeniable. Not only is the Bè Kpota Community Health Center better equipped to address urgent medical needs, but it will also play a crucial role in relieving pressure on the Bè hospital, easing the burden on medical facilities in the region. Particularly, gynecological obstetric emergencies and radiological examinations will now be efficiently and promptly attended to.

The UNDP Resident Representative in Togo, Binta Sanneh, emphasized the importance of these actions in the healthcare sector. She highlights that these investments aim to have a tangible impact on Togo’s vulnerable populations by improving access to basic social services. The UNDP continues to play a key role in strengthening the healthcare sector in Togo, supporting initiatives that tangibly improve the lives of citizens.

The state-of-the-art equipment was received with enthusiasm by the healthcare professionals at the Bè Kpota Community Health Center on Wednesday. The medical staff is pleased to now offer high-quality, cutting-edge care to their local community. This advancement is also the result of cooperation between the Togolese government and international partners, underscoring the importance of collaboration in achieving common development goals.
