In Togo, Higher Education is undergoing a major educational revolution. One of the new reforms implemented by the Minister of Higher Education is the organization of national exams for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, both in public and private universities.
Starting from the next academic year, all candidates, whether they come from public or private universities, will have to take national exams to obtain Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. This is one of the new measures taken by the government as part of the reforms in the higher education sector in Togo.
One of the main objectives of this reform is to put an end to the inconsistency in the training offered by some private higher education institutions. It has been observed that several establishments offer training programs that do not meet the standards established by CAMES (African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education), which could compromise the quality and recognition of the diplomas awarded.
To address this situation, the ministry has designed a model for training offers and harmonized the curricula of Bachelor’s programs in private higher education institutions. This approach aims to align the programs with national and regional standards while preserving the diversity of proposed fields of study.
The national exams will be designed to comprehensively assess the students’ skills and abilities in their field of study. They will be developed in collaboration with experts in the field and CAMES, to ensure that they meet the expected academic and professional requirements.
