As temperatures rise, homes often attract unwanted visitors like centipedes. These little creatures can quickly become a nuisance. Fortunately, there are simple solutions to keep them out of our living spaces.
One such solution is a homemade remedy: a cayenne pepper spray. Spicy substances such as those in peppers are known for their ability to repel various insects, including centipedes.
Ingredients
- 10 cayenne peppers (or powdered);
- 1 teaspoon of liquid dish soap;
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil;
- About 2 liters of water;
- 1 spray bottle.
Preparation and Use
- First, it is advisable to wear gloves to prevent any irritation caused by pepper particles that might get under your nails and come into contact with your eyes or sensitive areas.
- In a blender, combine the peppers, dish soap, and vegetable oil.
- Add two cups of water to facilitate mixing and to liquefy the blend.
- Let the mixture rest for about an hour, then perform a second blend to ensure the mixture is smooth.
- Strain the liquid using cheesecloth or a coffee filter to remove all solid particles.
- Transfer the filtered solution into a spray bottle, then fill up with the rest of the water.
- Finally, regularly spray this solution around entry points to ensure its effectiveness.
