The email account of Tidjane Thiam, the president of the Democratic Party of Ivory Coast (PDCI-RDA), has recently been compromised. Cybercriminals managed to infiltrate his personal communication system.
The Democratic Party of Ivory Coast (PDCI) issued an official statement on Thursday, January 25, 2024, announcing that its president, Tidjane Thiam, had fallen victim to cybercrime. Malevolent individuals targeted his personal email address, highlighting the vulnerability of political figures to digital transgressions.
“The office of Mr. Tidjane Thiam wishes to inform his professional and personal contacts that a malicious action targeting his email address tt7@freedomac1.com was committed today. Please disregard any incoming messages from this email address, as it has been compromised, modified, or altered for malicious purposes, including scamming, extortion, or fraud,” reads the note. To date, the perpetrators of this act are unknown.
The prominent Ivorian banker was inaugurated as president of the Democratic Party of Ivory Coast, succeeding the former president Henri Konan Bédié, who passed away on August 1, 2023. His assumption of office took place on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, during a power transition ceremony with the interim president, Professor Cowppli Boni Kwassi, at the party’s headquarters in Cocody.
