In an exclusive interview granted to the media outlet “Investing in the Country,” the iconic leader of the Ivorian group Magic System, A’salfo, addressed those who drive luxury cars while still being tenants.
It’s no longer a secret. A’salfo now holds a significant place among the most influential Ivorian artists in Côte d’Ivoire and even Africa. With 27 years of a career behind him, the singer and entrepreneur continue to share his vision with the new generation of artists.
In an interview this week, the singer, whose real name is Salif Traoré, opened up about various aspects of his career and personal life. He took the opportunity to address a concerning societal issue: the gap between appearance and essence.
According to A’salfo, it has become common to conform to others’ expectations at the expense of one’s own well-being. The artist pointed out a striking example of this dissonance by mentioning the phenomenon of owning ostentatious material possessions without the corresponding stability. Indeed, the leader of the Magic System group illustrated this paradox by mentioning individuals who drive luxury cars valued at considerable sums, while they remain tenants.
“We see people driving around in big cars that cost between 120,000 and 150,000 Euros, knowing that these individuals are renters in our neighborhoods in Abidjan. They are driving their own house on the roads and they go to sleep in someone else’s house when they’re tired,” denounced the leader of the Magic System group.
