Journalist Hervé Penot has spoken out about Sadio Mané’s uncertain future at Bayern Munich. The L’Equipe employee criticized the unorthodox way the Bavarian club’s management handled the Senegalese striker’s situation.
“He wasn’t looking to leave Bayern, but Bayern wanted to get rid of him at all costs. So why not go to Saudi Arabia for the same salary? He didn’t try to go to Saudi Arabia; he just wanted to find a job afterward,” Hervé Pénot revealed, before criticizing Thomas Tuchel’s poor management.
“It’s not that he succumbed to temptations; it’s that he was basically kicked out. The Bayern coach’s treatment of Sadio Mané is quite shameful. He no longer wanted him and sought to get rid of him. He held a press conference where he roasted him, and he scolded him during training,” he added in the French newspaper.
Unwanted at Bayern, with club officials setting his transfer price at 25 million euros in order to quickly offload him, Sadio Mané received the final blow from his coach during a press conference. “Sadio didn’t meet expectations last season. The competition in his position is huge. We have a ‘constellation’ that makes things very difficult for Sadio. The player knows it too. I know his opinion, and he knows mine and the club’s,” the Spanish coach said last week.
