While on a visit to Togo for a series of shows, Ivorian singer Apoutchou National was surprised by a gesture from former Togolese international footballer, Emmanuel Adebayor.
In a short video posted on social media, Apoutchou National expressed his gratitude to Adebayor Sheyi, who offered him a large sum of money over the weekend while he was performing in Lomé at the opening of a nightclub.
According to Apoutchou, he was on stage when the former captain of the Togo national team joined him to show his support. “The godfather Adebayor decided to honor his son Apoutchou National. Honestly, he is a legend in Togo. After joining me on stage, he started spraying me with 5,000 and 10,000 CFA franc notes. The total sum was 1 million CFA francs that he showered on me tonight,” revealed Apoutchou.
He described Adebayor as someone who has succeeded in football and is a source of pride for Africa. “I was so happy that I started doing dance moves,” he joked. During his time in Togo, Apoutchou National also met with the music group Toofan, Santrinos Raphael, and other artists who made his stay enjoyable.
“I want to thank the entire Togolese people for their warm welcome. Thank you to papa Caviar, thank you to Monsieur Djibril for the invitation, thank you to papa docteur Kodom for your gift. Thanks to my godfather of the evening, the legend Adebayor, to my brother Mathieu Gnassingbé, and to my dear Marie la rose who gave me an envelope of 1000€ for my stay. I also say thank you to my brother Santrinos. Bro, thank you very much. May God bless Togo,” he said.
