According to Spanish media, including Marca, Jordi Alba has decided to end his international career with the Spanish national team.

This summer, Jordi Alba left FC Barcelona to continue his career in the United States with Major League Soccer (MLS). However, this isn’t the only significant change in the defender’s life. The veteran left-back has indeed decided to retire from international football, as extensively reported by Iberian media, including Marca, on Tuesday evening. At the age of 34, Alba has chosen to close an important chapter of his career as a key player for the Spanish national team. The player himself is expected to officially announce the news soon.

Jordi Alba has been a cornerstone of the national team since Euro 2012, which he won with the Spanish side. He has amassed 93 caps for the Spanish national team and scored 9 goals. In addition to Euro 2012, he won the 2023 UEFA Nations League with Spain. His decision to retire from international football was communicated to the Federation a few weeks ago, marking the end of an iconic era in Spanish football. The left-back played a crucial role for Spain during these years, contributing to shaping the team’s identity and inspiring young players across the country.
