South Africa’s coach, Hugo Broos, has unveiled his list of selected Bafana Bafana players for the upcoming friendly matches against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Namibia in September.
Already qualified for the final phase of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in Côte d’Ivoire, scheduled from January 13 to February 11, 2024, South Africa will not be sitting idle during the upcoming September international break, which is largely reserved for continental football. This break coincides with the sixth round of qualifiers for the African tournament. Bafana Bafana will engage in two friendly matches, one against the DRC and the other against Namibia.
The Rainbow Nation’s squad will face the Brave Warriors on September 9 and take on the Leopards on September 12. These two matches are part of the preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers scheduled for November 2023. To ensure the best preparation, head coach Hugo Broos has revealed a preliminary squad of 36 South African players. The Belgian tactician is expected to announce the final list of 23 Bafana Bafana players next week.
