The talented Malian musician Sidiki Diabaté, widely praised for his mastery of the kora, has recently been awarded the insignia of Knight of the National Order of Mali, an honor that highlights the remarkable impact of his musical work.
Sidiki, who is also the proud successor to his father Toumani Diabaté, an icon in the world of kora music, was distinguished alongside other notable figures in Malian society. This 32-year-old artist did not fail to celebrate and share this accolade with his community on social media, especially on Facebook, where he posted photos from the ceremony.
The eloquent post he shared on his page on Thursday, February 22nd reflects his immense gratitude towards President Assimi Goïta and his government: “I am deeply honored and proud to have been named a Knight of the National Order of Mali. This represents a great honor for me, and I am grateful to my country’s supreme authorities for this distinction. I pledge to be worthy of this tribute.“
This recognition is not the first for the artist, who was also celebrated in 2016 by the Ministry of Culture and Craftsmanship of Mali with the Silver Star of National Merit, adorned with the effigy of a bee, symbolizing the value of his exceptional cultural contributions.
