Simone Ehivet responded to the question about a possible reconciliation with Laurent Gbagbo during her appearance on the show “Allume ta télé” on RTI.
The former First Lady of Côte d’Ivoire, Simone Ehivet Gbagbo, was a guest on Jean-Michel Onin’s show “Allume ta télé,” broadcast on RT1. When asked about her divorce with former head of state Laurent Gbagbo, the president of the opposition political party “Mouvement des générations capables” (MGC) did not mince her words in revealing her willingness or lack thereof to save her relationship with Laurent Gbagbo.
“Getting back together is not the priority! The priority is the destiny that God has shaped for him (Laurent Gbagbo)… My objective is not to get back together, reconcile, etc… What we should rather focus on is the divine purpose. What does God want for his nation? How does God use this person or that person for the betterment of his nation? It is within this framework that my approach is inscribed,” clarified Simone Ehivet.
As a reminder, the divorce of Simone Ehivet and former Ivorian president Laurent Gbagbo was made public in a statement from the former First Lady’s lawyer a few weeks ago.
“The divorce was pronounced exclusively at the fault of Mr. Laurent Gbagbo, for proven and notorious adultery, abandonment of the marital home, and serious insults against Mrs. Simone. It will be up to Mr. Laurent Gbagbo, who was so eager to divorce, to renounce appealing the said divorce decision, so that his desire finally becomes a reality,” explained the statement.
