The CAF has chosen the stadium that will host the match between Senegal and Rwanda in September, as part of the 6th round of qualifiers for the 2023 AFCON. The match will take place in Kigali.
Finally, Rwanda comes out as the winner in its standoff with Senegal. The sixth round of qualifiers for the 2023 AFCON between the two countries will be played in Kigali. According to information reported by Wiwsport in Sud Quotidien, the Lions of Teranga will travel to Rwanda for this match, which holds no significance.
The Rwandan Football Federation recently approached CAF to ensure that Senegal honors its commitment to hold this match on Rwandan soil. A request that was accepted by the institution based in Cairo, Egypt, which scheduled the match for September 9th in Kigali, according to credible sources interviewed by Sud Quotidien.
As a reminder, lacking a CAF-approved stadium, Rwanda had decided to host Senegal in Dakar during the second round. Senegal had tentatively agreed to play the return match in Rwanda. However, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) explained in a letter to CAF that the tentative agreement did not signify a final agreement and that they would not be traveling to Rwanda for the return match. Nonetheless, CAF sided with Rwanda, and the match on September 9th will take place in the land of Paul Kagame.
