Benin finished in fifth place in the overall standings of the School World Cup, which took place in Morocco, after securing victories against Guinea (3-2) and Myanmar (0-0, 3-2 on penalties) this weekend.

The Benin team from CEG Sainte Rita exited the School World Cup on a high note. After their impressive start in the tournament, they were unfortunately eliminated at the doorstep of the semi-finals last Wednesday. However, they bounced back strongly by defeating the reigning African School Champions, Guinea, with a thrilling 5-2 scoreline. In their final match of the tournament, the young lions triumphed over the Myanmar team in a penalty shootout (3-2). This excellent performance ensured Benin’s qualification for the next edition of the competition, which will be held in 2024 in Dalian, China.
