New head coach of Saudi Arabia, Roberto Mancini, was introduced by the Saudi Football Federation this Monday. It was an opportunity for the Italian tactician to unveil his goals as the head of the Saudi national team.
“I thank the president of the Football Federation for choosing me for this role, and I am proud to bring my leadership as the coach of the Green Falcons. The next 10 days are important to see the players, and we have also watched many club matches in recent days,” said Mancini, after signing his contract until 2027 at the ceremony in Riyadh.
He added, “I am not a magician, but we have talent and we can achieve our goals with work. We have good players, and the former coach did an excellent job. We want to be one of the best teams in Asia and deliver a fantastic game. I will build an organized and strong team that plays attractive offensive football. We want to inspire Saudi fans and show the world that Saudi Arabia is a powerhouse in football.”
As a reminder, in an effort to transform its image and restructure its economy, Saudi Arabia has acquired world football stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Neymar in its league. The prominence of its football must also logically come through the performances of its national team on the continental and international stage. It’s now up to Roberto Mancini to build a national team that lives up to the aspirations of Saudi leaders.
