Just minutes before the match between Senegal and Gambia, Senegalese international Sadio Mané shed light on the goal of the Lions of Teranga for this CAN.

The Lions of Teranga will face Gambia on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 3 p.m. Prior to this match, Canal+ interviewed Al-Nassr winger and the star of the competition, Sadio Mané, who revealed his ambitions. According to him, the goal of his team for the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) is to retain their title.

The CAN is full of surprises, we almost got eliminated in the group stage (CAN 2021). We need to be ready, otherwise we could say ‘goodbye’ in the group stage. We were finalists in 2019 and we won in 2022, you know what the expectations will be like. One thing is for sure, we won’t turn a blind eye. The goal is to retain the title,” he said.
