Russian security services (FSB) have announced that they have neutralized a group of four Ukrainian “saboteurs” at the border, highlighting their alleged role in an attempted intrusion onto Russian territory.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) stated that they had thwarted an intrusion attempt by a group of Ukrainian intelligence and sabotage operatives. Russian authorities claim that these individuals were attempting to enter Russia from Ukraine, in the border region of Briansk.

The FSB, in collaboration with the Russian Ministry of Defense forces, successfully identified and neutralized the four individuals suspected to be part of this group of “saboteurs.” Russian authorities did not specify the exact date of the operation, but emphasized that it resulted in the elimination of the suspects. No further details were provided regarding the individuals’ identities or the specific nature of their alleged sabotage mission.

This announcement comes amid heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine, two countries that have been in conflict since Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014. The two nations have clashed in eastern Ukraine, where clashes between Ukrainian forces and Russia-backed separatists have resulted in thousands of deaths and the displacement of many people.
