Amidst a heated controversy on social media after refusing money from a lady during a live concert, singer Roseline Layo has finally broken her silence to provide clarity.

During her performance at the 3rd edition of the Antilope Festival this weekend, singer Roseline Layo drew attention for an unusual incident on stage. On two occasions, she declined banknotes offered by a lady from the audience, visibly removing the money from the stage. “Today, I’m not taking your money,” the singer affirmed, while continuing to sing into the microphone.

Captured by some spectators, the video of the incident quickly spread on social media like wildfire. Reactions were not long in coming and flooded social platforms, generating a wave of diverse interpretations. Roseline Layo was accused of humiliating the lady in question, thus sparking a passionate debate within the online community.

In response to the escalating controversy, the singer chose to break her silence and provide clarifications. In a video posted on her own social media platforms, she sought to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

“The lady in question and I know each other very well. She’s my sister. We went together to Daloa where I was scheduled to perform. We stayed in the same hotel. She and I like to tease each other,” Roseline Layo said with a sincere tone. She continued to explain that the situation was far from intentional humiliation but rather reflected a playful dynamic between two close individuals.

The repeated gesture of refusing the banknotes was, according to the singer, a manifestation of their playful relationship. “When I take her money, she’ll later ask me to give it back to her. She might even increase the amount. So, just for fun, I acted this way. She and I tease each other a lot. There’s a bond of amusement, of joking between us. It’s not that I’m full of myself. She’s my sister,” she added in a video posted on her social media.

Roseline Layo thus dispelled the clouds of doubt by emphasizing the affection and intimacy shared with the lady in question. This sincere and enlightening response should put an end to the controversy that had gained traction on social media.
