According to information from Le Monde on Thursday, Kylian Mbappé has turned down a handsome sum of €200 million by refusing to extend his contract with PSG.
Despite his refusal to extend his contract and leave the club, Kylian Mbappé still received an initial loyalty bonus of €40 million on July 31st, and he is set to receive a second bonus of the same amount on September 1st, after the end of the transfer window. However, Le Monde reports on Thursday that the native of Bondy has nevertheless forfeited a sum of €200 million by refusing to extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain beyond 2024.
Indeed, according to the financial details of the contract signed in May 2022, Mbappé will no longer receive a signing bonus of €60 million gross, as well as another loyalty bonus of €55 million, which would have been paid in two installments. In addition to this, there’s another bonus of €9.5 million, also payable in two parts, as well as a gross salary of €75 million promised for the 2024/2025 season.
This adds up to a total of €199.5 million that he is letting go, contradicting the club’s claims that the player prioritizes his financial interests. Nevertheless, Mbappé will still receive a total of €178 million for the 2023/2024 season, combining the bonuses stipulated in his contract and his remuneration.
